Dry your Eyes

BY Avery Dae

All the while a rebellion builds
inside
I saw it the day you were fired
burned
rent was due on the walls that hold you
imprisoned
by the whimpers of your hungry child
watching
forlorn wilted petals lying on the floor of
yesterday
the dreams cast in an iron kettle boiled
dry
your eyes and rest assured the rebellion builds
outside.
