The Waiting Room

BY Justin John Carroll

We are in mutation.
We are a mute nation.
Silenced by bombs…

Except to voice the reactions
That have long been anticipated
By the Powerful Ones.

We are in mutation, changing
By the clever application
Of various forms (or bombs)
Of mind manipulation
Which will soon make any situation
Look like a scene played out in
The waiting room
Of your local friendly police station.

We’re in mutation. We mutate.
We are so accepting of our inevitable mutation
Into a Police State.

We wait
To see what we’ll be instructed to do next.
It’s so great
To be instructed to the point of being really vexed

And all on view
To a camera crew
Made of us
To work for them
To control you.
